Rationale

I chose to create a WebQuest on Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes to peak my students' interest before reading the novel.  The WebQuest activities enable the students to gather background information which contributes to a better understanding of the events in the story.  Actively searching for information and actually using the research to complete a task enhances the students comprehension and allows them to retain what they have learned.  They will become involved on a personal level with the novel and enjoy the experience of connecting different subject areas to reading.
