PARENTS:

I have prepared a complete list of assignments for Social Studies and Life Science.

Your student should have this list in the front of his/her binder.  Each assignment is numbered and a date is posted showing when it was assigned.

Each assignment should be arranged in order according to assignment numbers.  A large number should be posted in the top right hand corner of each page to help keep the assignments in order (like the pages of a book).

You can easily keep track of their work by checking this list.  If there are gaps in the dates posted for assignments, this will serve as a RED FLAG to alert you that your child may be falling behind in assigned work.

Work that is assigned but not finished in class automatically becomes homework and is due for grading the next school day.

Normally I do not give homework over the weekend.  However, all work that has been assigned during the week but not completed (for whatever reason) must be caught up by Monday.  In other words, the binder should be completely finished and ready for grading every Monday.

The binder (notebook) is a critical part of their work.  It is essential that your child completes the work accurately, does it neatly,  and keeps all the material organized.  Organizational skills are an absolute necessity to insure success.

I have determined that students who maintain binders in the way presented above understand the material better and make the best grades.  I have had many former students return to me and thank me for helping them develop good study habits and learning how to organize their work so they can use it successfully.

Please keep a keen eye on their binder.  It is the best indicator of their progress in the courses that I teach.

    Thank you for caring,
